Programme Support Officer will support Concern Uganda’s nutrition programming
with particular emphasis on supporting analysis, reporting, advocacy and
communication. To gain experience and exposure to working in diverse Concern
nutrition programme settings including prevention of malnutrition, SUN, emergency response CMAM in food insecure and
refugee settings.
Responsibilities:
- Emergency Preparedness & Response-
Surge - Supporting the Elma Surge Nutrition team
in data analysis and analysis of performance indicators - Actively facilitate discussions with surge
team on trends, results, progress and participate in planning - Participate in field research (focus group
discussions and semi structured interviews) to complement data analysis on
surge performance. - Assist Karamoja teams in preparation for
2015: Interpretation and communication of WFP/FAO FSNA results;
participate in activities setting clinic thresholds for 2015, linking
surge to RWANU, and assisting with implementation of recommendations from
review visits and evaluations.
- Assist in the development of RWANU module
materials including content development &liaising with printers etc - Support in the development of
complementary nutrition materials, drama messaging, recipe books etc. - Actively participate in the coaching of
Health Promoters in participatory methodologies. - Assist in implementation of
recommendations from technical advisory visits. - Participate in training to raise staff and
partner knowledge on nutrition across all agencies involved in RWAMU - Develop a communication strategy for
sharing RWANU progress with a wide variety of audiences, donor, Concern
countries and HQ, MOH, Peer agencies.
- Work closely with UCCOSUN (Uganda Civil
Society arm of SUN) & participate in Concern SUN initiatives. - Pro-actively contribute to Concern
National level Nutrition advocacy by producing briefs etc - Gather information on major nutrition
initiatives by other agencies in Uganda for sharing with staff
- Support the ACD, Health & Nutrition
Director and National Nutrition Manager in the writing of donor reports as
required - Assist in the production of Concern
standard nutrition reporting
- Actively participate on technical teams
developing Food security and nutrition concepts and programmes. - In charge of compiling and editing
proposals under the guidance of ACD-P and Concern technical Advisor
- During the interns time in Uganda they
will have placements in emergency and development settings to gain
exposure to various programming modalities. During these placements they will report
to either National Nutrition Manager or Health and Nutrition
Director. Each placement will have
a specific TOR with learning objectives and agreed contributions.
Placements can be for 6-8 weeks at a time.
- Ensure compliance with all Concern’s
policies and procedures including Programme Perform any other related
duties as may be assigned by the Country Director and Assistant Country
Director.
Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Masters level
qualification in Nutrition. - Fluent English – written and spoken.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal
and written - Ability to organize and plan effectively
and ability to work under pressure often to strict deadlines. - Possess the ability to work with
culturally diverse groups of people. - Ability to work effectively in team
settings - Ability to communicate clearly to a
variety of audiences - Ability to live in shared accommodation
- Excellent English Language (both written
and spoken) - Skills in Information Technology (MS
Office, Internet). - Empathy with Concern’s vision, mission,
goal and objectives
