About UBC:
Uganda Television and Radio Uganda (the current Uganda Broadcasting
Corporation) was born in 1963 one year after Uganda’s independence. However,
radio was born in Uganda in 1954 and TV came in nine years after that. Its main
aim was to broadcast through both mediums to the whole country as the national
broadcaster.
After independence till the mid 1980’s Uganda was faced with a lot of
economic hardships. As a result many institutions including the national
broadcaster suffered a general deterioration. It is with this background that
the Ugandan Government saw the need to restructure the former Uganda Television
and Radio Uganda.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • In charge of troubleshooting a variety of
    broadcast equipment including but not limited to analog/digital receivers,
    encoders, decoders, signal processors, multiplexers, video/IP routers,
    video servers, switchers and matrixes, modulators, power amplifiers and
    antennas.
  • Responsible for the installation,
    maintenance and operation of various video, audio, data, baseband and RF
    signal processing and transmission equipment.
  • Installation and maintenance of computer
    network components, applications, configurations, and automation.
  • Interpretation of wiring diagrams,
    installation of cabling and testing equipment performance to integrate new
    systems
  • Compiling and submitting engineering
    activity reports to the assigned supervisors
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicants should hold Higher Diplomas
    in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Telecommunications
    Engineering from a recognized Institution
  • Good background in computers with the
    ability to learn various computer applications critical to broadcast
    processing.
  • Additional qualification in computer
    networking hardware and software is an added advantage
  • Practical troubleshooting skills and
    ability to analyze faulty components systematically
  • High degree of flexibility and
    adaptability in working any time of the day to support 24/7 facility
  • Highly receptive to job instructions
  • Team work with self motivation and
    enthusiasm to learn and develop in the broadcast engineering field.
  • Readiness to work in any part of the
    country
