About UBOS:
The Government of Uganda (GoU), through the Uganda Bureau of Statistics
(UBOS), will be undertaking the National Population and Housing Census 2014
Enumeration Exercise from 28th August to 6th September 2014 in accordance with
the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act, 1998. The Census 2014 results will provide
bench-mark socio-demographic data at all administrative levels necessary for
general administration and the planning process.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Scanner Operators shall:
- Prepare materials for scanning;
- Scan and manipulate images as required
using provided software; - Keep record of the scanned data and daily
output; - Responsible for control operations of
equipment or systems; - Carry out tests and inspections of
products, services, or processes to evaluate quality of performance; - Monitor/Assess performance of the scanner
to make improvements or take corrective action; - Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators
to make sure a machine is working properly and where necessary report to
the Technician; - Maintain production area in a neat and
orderly condition; and - Perform any other duties as may be
assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Certificate in
Information Technology from a recognised institution; - Possess Uganda Certificate of Education
(UCE) with a credit in Mathematics and English; - Past exposure and experience with a
document scanner is an advantage - Exhibition of strength and resilience in
manual work; - Possess the ability to properly handle
received field returns and other archival materials; - Ability to work effectively as part of a
team and with minimal supervision; - Ability to understand and follow oral and
written directives; and - Ability to communicate clearly and
concisely, both orally and in writing.
