Job Summary: The Transport
Manager will primarily be responsible for the general operations of the entire
entity are monitored closely and accurately. The incumbent will also be
responsible for all the organisation’s assets, equipment and finances and
regulates the use thereof reporting regularly to the General Manager. He/She is
also responsible for coordinating, setting up and Optimizing resource
utilization by implementing standard operating procedures for all operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Operations:
- Ensure that the general operations of
transport department are monitored closely. - Conduct departmental meetings weekly.
- Instill systems to ensure legal compliance
of all operations, including insurance, safe contracts, statutory
remittances etc. - Coordinate flow of work within and/or
between all departments. - Working out the human and material
resources needed. - Intuitively review master production
schedule and work orders, establish priorities for specific customer
orders, and revise schedule according to work order specifications,
established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts,
material, machines, and equipment.
2. Financial:
- Produce weekly, monthly and annual reports
on expenditure, fuel consumption and conditions of the vehicles. - Ensure stocks of fuel and other materials
are kept accurately. Maintain integrity in movement of stocks between
operations and technical departments - Estimating costs and setting the quality
standards. - People Management
- Ensure planned KPI’s of efficiency and
performance are met or exceeded. - Responsible for product training to
showroom sales staff.
3. Technical:
- Oversee the adherence to prescribed
procedures to ensure quality is met and complete compliance as per the
company health and safety requirements. - Monitor progress of work and downtime due
to failures of trucks and equipment to appraise maintenance planning
personnel of delays. - Ensuring safe working practices for a safe
working environment - Ensure that there is periodic and
corrective maintenance service of vehicles is carried out in a timely and
perfect manner.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The best candidate should hold a Business
degree with a bias in Logistics, Fleet Management, Procurement or a
related field. A Post Graduate qualification in the same is strong
advantage. - A minimum of eight or more years’
experience working as a part of senior management team in a reputable
organization. - Technical and mechanical knowledge, of
Scania trucks is important for this role. - Prior training in supervisory skills,
people management and/or leadership skills is desirable. - Strong organization, supervisory,
problem-solving, interpersonal, communication as well as team building and
negotiation skills. - High integrity, self-driven and able to
set own work schedule with rigorous deadlines. - Possess the ability to initiate and
complete assignments and to work under demanding circumstances with
minimal supervision. - Excellent planning, organizational and
problem solving skills.
