Safeguards, Safety and Health at Workplaces (SSASHEW) (2013/14 – 2017/18),
under the Ministry of Gender, Labour Social Development whose objective is to
promote safeguards, safety and health measures at workplaces.
focusing on handling safeguards, safety and health concerns in the areas of oil
and gas exploration and production, manufacturing, tourism, construction sites
and public workplaces/offices.

controlled. He/ she will ensure that employers comply with all aspects of
health and safety laws and that workplaces are not the cause of ill health,
injury or even death. The incumbent will also be responsible for specialized
and routine inspection, examination and certification of plants and equipment.
- Guide the Commissioner
on all matters relating to electrical and mechanical safety - Developing, reviewing
and enforcement of the electrical and mechanical laws related to OSH - Responsible for the
Inspection, Examination and Certification of statutory equipment and
electrical installations - Investigate all
electrical and mechanical accidents and where legal proceedings follow to
be expert witness - Offer a system of
testing and examining of mechanical and electrical installations in
workplaces - Perform research and
publish reports on OSH in plants and equipment operations, maintenance,
quality, disposal among others - Perform any other
duties as assigned to you by your supervisor
- The ideal candidate
must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s
Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related disciplines - Five or more years’
professional experience in Occupational Safety and Health in any Industry.
