About
UTGA:
Uganda Timber Growers Association (UTGA) is an
independent private sector Members’ Association of commercial tree growers in
Uganda. UTGA brings together private commercial tree growers for collective
action in terms of advocacy and lobbying to create a conducive environment to
establish, manage and harvest forest plantations, lobbying for favorable
financing and tax policies, creation of public awareness about the importance
of tree growing, information sharing, promoting the profitability of commercial
forestry and developing markets for timber and other forest products coming out
of Members plantations.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
The
Programme Officer will offer the following services among others;
  • Responsible for
    the brokerage and strengthening linkages of UTGA Members with existing
    local markets;
  • Identifying and
    Creating new lucrative timber markets;
  • Technically
    supporting UTGA planning for processing & utilisation;
  • Marketing
    interventions and strategies to benefit UTGA Members;
  • Providing
    extension services in all areas of commercial forestry to UTGA Growers
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant
    should hold a relevant qualification i.e. Degree or diploma
  • The applicant
    should hold a driving experience with a valid License;
  • Ready to travel
    extensively across the country;
  • He she should also
    be hardworking, Trustworthy and a Team player;
  • Creative, Dynamic,
    Proactive and Result oriented;
  • Computer literacy
    skills;
  • Good negotiation
    skills
