About NSSF: 
The National Social Security
Fund (NSSF) is a Provident Fund mandated to provide social security to its
members as prescribed by law under CAP 222 (Laws of Uganda) through efficient
management of members’ contributions. The NSSF asset base is currently over
Ugx. 4 trillion, making the Fund one of the largest players in Uganda’s economy.
The National Social Security
Fund (NSSF) is positioning itself to be the Social Security Provider of Choice

Job Summary: The
Compliance and Litigation Manager will oversee the legal and regulatory
compliance of the Fund, enforcement of compliance with the NSSF Act and all
other laws, supervises internal and external legal counsel and is responsible
for the day to day management of the legal compliance section in the Legal
& Board Affairs Department of the Fund.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Assess
    the relevance and impact of existing legislation on the Fund’s business
    and ensure that the Board and Management are updated on the strategic
    legal and regulatory compliance risks proposing appropriate legal
    controls.
  • Carry
    out legal and regulatory compliance audits and propose legal and
    regulatory compliance for mainstreaming into the Fund’s business
    processes, policies and procedures.
  • Design,
    implement and manage an effective legal and regulatory compliance program
    and standards for all strategic business units.
  • Develop
    strategic alliances and synergies to foster coordination of the legal and
    regulatory compliance both internally and externally
  • Assess
    the Fund’s litigation risk and design, implement and manage an effective
    litigation risk management programme and standards for highly prone
    litigation business units.
  • Represent
    the Fund in Courts of Law and Tribunals.
  • Manage
    and monitor the performance of counsel handling cases on behalf of the
    Fund.
  • Maintain
    a register of all litigation for and against the Fund and prepare
    quarterly litigation reports on the status of all cases for the Board and
    Management.
  • Mentor,
    supervise and appraise all professional and non-professional staff in the
    legal compliance section and prepare reports to the Corporation Secretary
    and the Executive Committee of the Fund.
  • Render
    secretarial and legal support to various management committees
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should hold an Honours degree in Law from a reputable
    University.
  • Hold
    a Post graduate diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.
  • Holders
    of ICSA will have an added advantage.
  • The
    applicant must also be an advocate of the High Court.
  • A
    minimum of five years’ experience in the legal department of a medium to
    large organization.

  • The
    person should be of high morals and integrity.
