Research Institute (NaCRRI) is one of the six National Agricultural Research
Institute (NARIS) under the policy guidance and co-ordination of the National
Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO). The National Agricultural Research
Organisation (NARO) is the apex body for guidance and coordination of all
agricultural research activities in the national agricultural research system
in Uganda.

Job Summary: The Media
& Public Relations Officer will work with the Uganda Bioscience Information
Center (UBIC) and be responsible for the planning and delivery of UBIC’s
outreach activities. The incumbent will carve out new pathways and
relationships to exchange knowledge and information among diverse target
audiences.

audiences.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The
Media & Public Relations Officer under the supervision of the
Coordinator will: - Mainly
strengthen the development, packaging, and dissemination of messages of
information to targeted audiences’ including farmers’ associate and
religious/cultural leaders through existing channels - Identify,
and upon approval engage, non-tapped channels for implementing awareness
campaigns - Strategize,
create, and execute an institutional/ national/international media
engagement plan - Actively
interact with other bioscience communication initiatives to identify and
encourage partnerships for effectively delivering the messages to target
audiences - Offer
monitoring, valuation, and reports on communication activities - Work
closely with the finance office to develop and handle related budgets - Perform
any other duties assigned by the UBIC Coordinator.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
applicant should hold a Post-secondary degree in Communications,
Journalism, Sales and Marketing, Extension Services or related fields is
preferred. - Three
or more years’ experience earned in media, marketing, communications,
outreach and/or public relations. - Excellent
relationship-building skills among communicators across different sectors. - Excellent
track record of earned media coverage at national and international
levels. - Record
of successful social media/online engagement will be an added advantage. - Prior
working experience from different parts of Uganda will also be an added
advantage.
