Uganda Golf Club is located in the heart of Kampala, the perfect place for those who love the game of golf and the benefits of a members club. Enjoying time on the “19th hole” with friends is often the best part of the day.
There is always fun to be had at Uganda Golf Club with weekly events including club night and ladies night. On weekends, members and their guests play in social and corporate events.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all administrative functions of the Club, i.e. F & B, Front office, Accounts, Golf Course, Housekeeping and Human Resource function.
- Develop & implement effective communication system within the club and external bodies.
- Plan, control and advice Management Committee on best practices in regard to daily operations.
- Actively participate in planning, goal setting and development of club facilities and projects.
- Maintain up-to-date record of club accounts.
- Implement and maintain an effective, result oriented Human Resource capital.
- Ensure adherence to financial control system in accordance with the club’s financial policy.
- Management of relationships and contracts with external suppliers.
- Plan and coordinate with corporate companies to build up a strong business base. Including marketing the club and maximizing the advertising space in the club.
- Enforce proper etiquette, culture and value among clients, employees & corporates.
- Implementation of programs by developing action plans and working with Head of departments to meet club’s objectives.
- Maintain up-to-date data management system for reporting purposes.
- Ensure that all statutory requirements & obligations are adhered to.
Operations:
- The manager will hire, train and manage full-time and part-time employees to run golf club and course operations.
- He/she will oversee golf club personnel who deal with the practical aspects of building, developing and maintaining the course.
- He/she will also be responsible for green keepers and the employees who work in the course or restaurants.
Marketing:
- The manager will be responsible for building and maintaining membership. He/she will create promotional material to attract and communicate with members and the general public, and develop plans to improve facilities for members.
- Develop customer attractions, ensure wide advertising, organize tournaments and create public interest.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- The candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in golf course management, business administration, hotel and restaurant management or in a related field.
- He/she is required to have at least eight years’ experience in hospitality at managerial level.
- He should possess good interpersonal skills to deal with employees, club members, golf professionals and members of the public using the course.
- Excellent analytical and financial skills to develop and monitor budgets so that the club operates sustainably.
- Marketing and customer service skills to attract and retain members and customers.
- Be creative, proactive and innovative to match with the times.
- Familiarity with the practical, and financial aspects of managing golf course facilities, including pro shops, restaurants, clubhouse and the course itself.
- Qualifications
- General Managers require a bachelor’s degree in golf course management, business administration, hotel and restaurant management, or a related field.
