We had 11 branches up to 1972 and retained only one branch during the
turbulence of the 70s. In 1998 we acquired 4 branches of former Cooperative
Bank in November 1999. Standard Chartered Bank Uganda today has a network of 11
branches in Kampala, Jinja, Mbale, Mbarara and Gulu. Standard Chartered Bank
Uganda has 29 ATMs and over 600 staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Business
Performance:
Deliver target financial performance for new acquisition
of Personal Loans and Home loans.
2.
Channel Management and Initiatives:
  • Develop a strategy for Personal loan business growth with
    Employee Banking.
  • Develop strategy for third-party relationships
    (developers, agents, brokers) to build sales volume through these
    channels.
  • Keenly track sales volume on weekly basis and manage
    issues with sales momentum.
  • Develop quarterly sales incentive programs for all key
    channels.
  • Develop revenue point structure to drive product
    acquisition strategy and sales behavior across channels.
3. Product
Marketing & Initiatives:
  • Develop campaigns by working closely with Marketing
    Services and advertising agencies to conceptualise and execute innovative
    advertising.
  • In charge of driving continuous improvement in all
    communications (letters, website, advertising).
  • Build and mentor brand equity for mortgage products
    through PR and Marketing activities.
  • Oversee and maximise marketing budget.
  • Work in liaison with the Group Lending and Group Marketing
    on product and marketing initiatives.
4. Process:
  • Assist in assessing recurring customer complaints and work
    with Lending Process team to solve root cause of issues.
  • Actively participate in process improvement events. 
Key Performance Areas:   
  • Oversee Secured and Unsecure Lending business with focus
    on building and growing the business.
  • Responsible for driving growth in Personal Loans product.
  • In charge of 
    driving growth in Home Loans Product for the Bank
  • Conceptualize product marketing strategies to attract and
    increase number of new to bank customers (i.e. sponsorships, advertorial,
    editorial), and coordinate planning / consolidation of marketing and
    product calendar.
  • Responsible for driving growth Mortgage construction and
    completion suite of products.
  • Responsible for developing strategy for Bank’s relationship
    with developers, agents and brokers (to be executed by Mortgage
    specialist).
  • Act as a key liaison for Marketing Services on all Brand
    Management, Marketing Communications, Loyalty programs, and cost / budget
    management. 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a recognized university degree.
  • Strong working knowledge of Personal loan & Mortgages
    with a minimum of three years’ of relevant experience
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and
    interpersonal skills.
  • Possess good MI Analytics/numerical skills.
  • Strong at Risk Management/ Good attention to details
  • Excellent Relationship Management & Stakeholder
    Engagement  skills
  • Past exposure and experience in project management or
    system development will be an added advantage.
