Manager (FM) will oversee the design, implementation and monitoring of
Financial Management strategies. The job holder will be providing financial
management, budgeting and controls including accounting systems, budget
management and prepare monthly management accounts and weekly quick reports
with appropriate variance analysis reports. The FM will be responsible for
budget control across the organisation enforcing appropriate budgetary
behaviour from the rest of the Senior Management Team.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, supervise, monitor, and coordinate
the program accounts in line with accounting policies and procedures. - Compile and prepare accurate and timely
end-of-month, quarterly, and annual reports - Effectively manage project cash flow and
liquidity positions to maintain an appropriate level of available
operating funds for project activities. - Keep track of the budgets to ensure funds
are properly utilized in the allocated time period. - Ensure that payments are made on time and
are properly allocated to the budgeted line items. - Carry out monthly budget to actual
analysis and advise the Transport Manager on any major variances. - Verify suppliers’ invoices and supporting
documents before being authorized by signatories for payment. - Review accountabilities for staff advances
against supporting documentation and intended activity; follow up on
outstanding staff advances that are in non-compliance with policy. - Responsible for the design and implement
an effective internal control system to ensure the prevention and detection
of both incidental and intentional errors and fraud. - Oversee the management of the petty cash
fund. - Ensure PAYE and NSSF are remitted before
the deadline to avoid paying penalties. - Intuitively check and ensure the accuracy
of input VAT schedules prepared by the Assistant Accountant. - Prepare staff payrolls as by the contract
and timesheets. Ensure that all statutory deductions and other deductions
are accurately done. - Ensure confidentiality of payroll
information. - Review all journal vouchers before they are
posted into the computerized accounting system. - Ensure that posting in both the manual and
computerized systems is done online and reconciled on a daily basis. - Ensure that cheque books are properly and
securely kept and account for all leaves in the cheque book. - Maintain an updated list of bank accounts
held indicating the signatories on the accounts. - Ensure effective filing of accounting
documents.
Experience:
- The applicant must hold a University
Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Financial Management. - Full qualification with a professional
accounting body such as ACCA, and CPA. - A minimum of five years of proven
leadership, managerial and organizational skills - Working knowledge of Income tax act and
NSSF statutes. - Excellent analytical skills, flexibility,
honesty, creativity; takes initiative - Good command of the English language
- Strong report writing
