About NSSF: 
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is a Provident Fund mandated
to provide social security to its members as prescribed by law under CAP 222
(Laws of Uganda) through efficient management of members’ contributions. The
NSSF asset base is currently over Ugx. 4 trillion, making the Fund one of the
largest players in Uganda’s economy.
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is positioning itself to be
the Social Security Provider of Choice in Uganda. Our belief at the Fund is
that each employee contributes directly to the growth and success of the
business and each employee is expected to take pride in being a member of the
team.
Job Summary: The Employee
Relations Manager will ascertain that the individual and collective
relationship between the organization and its employees are managed
appropriately; within a clear framework underpinned by organization culture,
practices, policies and ultimately by relevant law.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Actively participate in developing and
    reviewing the employee relations strategy, policy and practice.
  • Drive and oversee all employee relations
    initiatives within the Fund.
  • Develop an Employee Relations strategy
    that is aligned with business needs.
  • Intuitively guide and support all parts of
    the business on employee relations matters to ensure their effective
    management including disciplinary and grievance matters.
  • Stay up to date with current employee
    relations legislation and ensure this is updated in the Human Resource
    Manual.
  • Oversee the employee relations team
    effectively to ensure objectives are met.
  • Maintains the Fund staff by establishing a
    recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on
    candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews;
    recommending changes.
  • Maintains professional and technical
    knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional
    publications; establishing personal networks; participating in
    professional societies.
  • Maintains human resource records in the
    Human resource capital system (HCIS) and by designing a filing and
    retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Arts or Sciences
  • A Master’s degree in Business
    Administration or Human Resource Management or a
  • Post graduate Diploma in Human Resource
    Management. 
  • Five or more years’ experience in a senior
    level management experience in an organization with a large workforce, in
    a busy and dynamic Human Resource department.
  • Being a member of the Human Resource
    governing body would be an added advantage.
