MicroGrants (www.sparkmicrogrants.org) is a young, rapidly scaling organization
pioneering a new approach to international aid. Spark proactively reaches out
to rural poor villages and helps community members to design, implement and
manage their own social impact projects. Since July 2010 we have built 80
community partnerships in Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi to manage social impact
projects including schools, community farms, electricity lines and more.
Manager will be responsible for spearheading Spark’s communications work
including managing the website, donor communications, field reporting, grant
proposals and supporting Spark’s development work. The Communications Officer
will be responsible for coordinating all website and donor updates related to
specific community partners, social media and crowd funding campaigns. The
Communications Manager will receive exceptional on the ground experience, have
a rare opportunity to contribute to the development of a new model for aid, and
liaise with rural communities working across sectors to improve their support
systems.
- Gather and collect stories and media from the field that
shows Spark’s impact on individual and community levels. - Work closely with all field staff to improve their story
collection skills. - Collect field information for grant applications and
reporting, support on grant writing. - Manage Spark’s social media and website.
- Prospect potential donors and grant opportunities.
- Remotely manage interns supporting on social media and
prospecting. - Manage pipeline of community specific funding
opportunities and all <$15,000 grant applications. - Assist the Executive Director in unique opportunities,
such as school partnerships.
