Job Summary: The Barclays Credit Analyst, Cards Policy will
have the primary responsibility of quality of the Credit card portfolio and
management of the entire Credit Cycle in aggregate, which comprises of the
following: Product Planning, Credit Initiation, Account Maintenance,
Collections / Recovery, Analytics and Fraud Management. The incumbent will also
be accountable for stakeholder engagement and management, Senior management in
the Consumer Bank, Support functions and Regional and Group offices.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
1. Business Risk Management: 60%
  • Steer the business towards achieving
    strategic goals and realize the Mission statement by implementing and
    maintaining robust credit card risk systems and processes
  • Drive behavioral change within the retail
    risk teams and retail front line staff responsible of selling credit
    products to achieve a sales/service culture across the Retail market
    segments.
  • Work closely with the Head of Retail
    Credit and Head Credit Policy & Portfolio management in establishing
    and reviewing risk policy, interpreting Group requirements and setting
    credit risk appetite for the Retail portfolio and being ultimately
    responsible for the quality of the Retail credit portfolio.
  • Review, redefine and make recommendations
    to the Head of Retail Credit and then implement the framework for managing
    risk within the Retail lending book.
  • Foster and grow strong Risk/Retail/Service
    Delivery partnership that will deliver superior customer experience
  • Build and develop links with other Group
    functions to ensure that the expertise within the Group is maximized for
    Barclays.
  • Work in liaison with the Head of Retail
    Credit, develop, implement and maintain credit risk strategies for the
    Retail credit business as a whole (operating, organizational, physical and
    technology models).
  • Responsible for critical analysis of any
    new retail credit risk product offerings to identity any underlying credit
    risks and coming up with practical ways to counter or manage the risks.
    Communicate effectively with the business on all risk related matters
  • In charge of continuous improvement of the
    Management Information base to ensure they remain relevant, reflect credit
    risk appetite and are useful to provide the business with information for
    use in decision making and policy matters.
  • Ensure all reporting / MI requirements are
    produced and delivered to recipients within agreed SLAs (internal and
    external).
  • Manage service level agreements with
    internal customers
  • Managing the cost and both within the
    centre and within the businesses
  • Embedding and coordinating change to
    ensure smooth transition to BAU
  • Be responsible for the successful design,
    development and implementation of any Retail Card Risk programs of change,
    ensuring that the benefits of such change are driven out and maximized and
    change embedded into the business as usual operations.
  • Offer technical input into the projects on
    Credit card requirements.
2. Risk Management and Control: 40%
  • Accountability for the strategy and quality
    of the Credit card book.
  • Guide and technically support Retail key
    stakeholders on all matters relating to Credit card risk within Retail.
  • Input on review of the score card for
    cards and monitoring the scorecard to ensure effective and efficient delivery
    of the intended purpose and result
  • Ensure timely and effective monitoring and
    control of the Credit card book. Review and challenge information and
    performance.
  • Responsible for the design, implement and
    maintain generic strategies for appropriate remedial action on poorly
    performing accounts in all sectors.
  • Responsible for the audit assessment.
  • Overseeing any changes on credit card risk
    control and assessment processes to ensure fit for purpose and meets the
    business needs
  • Managing, review and challenge change to
    ensure that the anticipated benefits are not only met but maximized.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a numeric
    undergraduate degree (Math, Statistics, Quantitative, Economics,
    Operations Research) or business degree (Finance, Economics, Commerce,
    Business Administration); and/or Master’s degree (MBA, Msc). Credit Cards
    experience which will be an added advantage.

    concepts to all levels of the business.

  • Credit risk management experience in a
    Retail/Consumer segment
  • Proven excellent presentation and
    facilitation skills
  • High analytical capability 
  • Communication and persuasion skills with
    the ability to think quickly and package ideas and results in a logical,
    understandable and compelling way to both technical and non-technical
    audiences;
  • A self-motivating team player who is able
    to define structure and prioritize work in order to complete assigned
    tasks on schedule in a timely and cost effective manner
