BBOXX is an international company based in London leading the solar revolution across the developing world.  Currently operating in 14 different countries BBOXX has already electrified 200,000 people.  We are aiming to make that number 20 million by the year 2020.Unlike other off-grid solar providers, BBOXX controls the whole process from design to manufacture to distribution and financing. 
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Carry out recruitment at the country and regional level, together with relevant line and functional managers
  • Coordinate recruitment at the shop level
  • Keep an organised database of candidates and those interviewed
  • Ensure that the management level has all necessary employee details and develop an organised method to keep the same (contract details, tax numbers, A/C No., social security and health insurance)
  • Develop, manage and update job descriptions, person specifications and job adverts where necessary
  • Ensure payrolls are made on time and accurate
  • Develop a training curriculum for all staff
  • Technically support the Head of Training in their production of training material for all training sessions
  • Ensure employee objectives are set and reviews are done on time and accurately
  • Ensure the implementation of the salary, bonus, commission and benefits structure while developing a staff motivation and retention programme
  • Organise and ensure the development and career progression of different staff based on their strengths and aspirations
  • Implement disciplinary procedures when and where necessary
  • Implement the globally agreed HR structure together with the Managing Director
  • Implement the globally agreed salary, bonus, commission and benefits structure alongside the HR structure, together with the Managing Director
  • Identify and develop methods to recruit candidates at different levels: At country, hub and kiosk level
  • Identify and develop methods to retain HR
  • Become the company’s equal opportunities champion to ensure equal opportunity in recruitment, training and retaining is given to all genders, tribes and ages
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree in business, management, human resources or related field
  • At least two years’ experience in HR department for a fast-paced and quickly growing company
  • Working knowledge and familiarity of recruitment and disciplinary processes
  • Previous budget management experience
  • Previous experience of human resources management
  • Work with an international retail business
  • Attained formal technical training in computers or information technology (I.T.)
  • Possession of a Diploma in one of the following fields; sales, marketing, commerce, retail or business is highly desirable but not mandatory
  • Certificates of human resources training or other relevant courses/workshops
  • Possession of Master’s degree in business, management, human resources or a related field is an added advantage
  • Good people management skills
  • Keen interest in the renewable energy sector
  • Past experience with solar is advantageousFluent in both verbal and written English
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Must have attention to details
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Honest, reliable and trustworthy character (with referees to support)

  • Impeccable time management skills and abilities
  • Efficient and responsive work ethic
  • Clean and tidy
  • Good knowledge of local languages
  • Well-connected in the Ugandan human resource sector
  • Creative thinking, imaginative
  • Resourceful personality
  • Previous work managing a large team
  • Past experience managing national HR for another company or organization is desired
