Northern Uganda-Health Integration to Enhance Services (NU-HITES) project to
provide technical assistance and capacity building support for Northern Uganda
in Malaria, AIDS and Tuberculosis, integrate additional support in Maternal,
Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH), Family Planning (FP) and nutrition; while
prioritizing the strengthening of district-level health facilities. This
project commenced in August 2012. In the course of Year two (2), the project
secured additional funding from DFID to improve technical support to malaria
activities and from the US Government together with other donors to strengthen
referral networks maternal neonatal child activities in six districts in the
region.
Medical Male Circumcision Officer will be responsible for the designing,
implementing and monitoring of VMMC activities in line with MOH strategies and
guidelines so as to contribute to reduction in transmission of HIV.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate VMMC activities in each
NU-HITES sub-region, including capacity building for clinical teams in
VMMC. - Work closely with the Logistics
Coordinators to ensure consistent availability of VMMC commodities to VMMC
service sites. - Coordinate the periodic technical support
supervision and quality assurance of VMMC activities for all VMMC service
facilities. - Significantly contribute to NU-HITES
periodic reports by consolidating district VMMC coverage reports to feed
into overall project reports. - Participate in the periodic technical
review and planning meeting with project stakeholders for the NU-HITES
Project, especially in regard to HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment
Programmes
Experience:
- The applicant should have attained
training as a Clinical Officer/Registered Nurse/Social work with specific
training in VMMC. - A minimum of three years’ professional
experience working in VMMC. - Past hands-on experience working in
districts and VHTs in northern Uganda - Computer literacy skills i.e. working
knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs including MS Excel, Ms Word, MS
PowerPoint.
