In 2010, Roke Telkom acquired a Public Infrastructure Provider (PIP) license in addition to the PSP license, in order to expand the range of products and services offered to the market. Roke Telkom has numerous advantages over competitors in the call termination and data services markets.
Job summary: The Systems Engineer will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of ROKE Telkom’s systems infrastructure. The incumbent will be focused on improving the stability and performance of our systems as well as maintaining and improving the security posture of the systems. In addition, this position will be responsible for the continuous monitoring of system health and troubleshooting issues that arise.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • In charge of service assurance and service delivery in a professional and customer friendly manner.
  • Diagnosing complex customer application issues, providing quick and accurate solutions.
  • Processing all level 2 customer support tickets as assigned, ensuring they are resolved in the shortest time.
  • Overseeing voice systems and services.
  • Monitoring hardware health, performing periodic maintenance, upgrades, backup and optimization across production and corporate servers.
  • Provisioning, monitoring and maintaining services ensuring minimal setup time and maximum service availability.
  • Prioritising tasks effectively, documenting procedures, and setting deadlines.
  • Providing 24 x 7 on call support and on site for major issues.
  • Technically supporting and maintaining Linux servers in a virtualised environment.
  • Implementing best-practice methodologies for managing and maintaining ROKE Telkom’s data center environments.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a good University degree (BSc) Computer Science/ Information Technology/ ICT from a recognized university;
  • At least three (3) years’ experience as a Systems Administrator/Engineer ( UNIX and Windows Server system)
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in managing VOIP and IP PABX systems
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of networking concepts and protocols I tools
  • Past experience in managing internet service applications (LAMP, BIND, Postfix, Asterisk, MySQL)
  • Proven track record of demonstrated experience with Linux VM (Proxmox and VMWare) desired.
