Job Summary: The Water & Sanitation Officer will manage
the implementation of water and sanitation activities for the Oil Company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Designing
    appropriate water and sanitation community based maintenance and repair
    systems
  • Designing
    and ensuring the effective dissemination of appropriate hygiene and
    sanitation messages
  • Participating
    in the development of a water and sanitation implementation and monitoring
    plan
  • Proposing
    water initiatives that could be considered
  • Act
    as a key liaison between the company, districts and communities in regards
    to possible water projects in the Lake Albert area
  • Designing
    and conducting training for community representatives, partners and
    company staff on water supply, maintenance, and hygiene and sanitation
    extension whenever necessary.
  • Monitoring
    all water and sanitation expenditure and ensuring appropriate utilisation
    of the budget under the direct supervision of the social investment
    coordinator.
  • Creating
    and updating a database of water and sanitation stakeholders in the
    district and at national level.
  • Providing
    appropriate feedback on the water and sanitation situation in the area in
    collaboration with the District water office
  • Preparing
    progress reports in line with the reporting schedule
  • Carrying
    out any other related tasks, or other responsibilities as may be assigned
    by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    candidate should hold a University degree in Engineering, Environment,
    Development studies, Hydrology, or equivalent
  • Five
    or more years’ professional experience working in rural areas particularly
    in Buliisa, Nebbi and Nwoya districts
  • Past
    experience of working in a multi cultural environment is desirable
  • Proven
    advanced project management skills;
  • Team-player
    with good inter-personal skills
  • Good
    report writing and administrative skills
  • Extensive
    knowledge of developing and reporting on log-frames.
  • Knowledge
    of the local languages Alur, Luo and Lugungu is a must
