Fund was established in 2008 as not-for-profit grant making mechanism to civil
society organizations in Uganda. For over five years, IDF has established
partnerships with over 105 civil society organizations. The financial and
technical support is directed at strengthening their capacities to effectively
contribute to the country’s human rights, civil rights, good governance and
poverty reduction efforts. The
Independent Development Fund has been supported by different development
partners including; The Royal Danish Embassy/DANIDA, Embassy of the Kingdom of
Netherlands, Embassy of Sweden/Sida, Embassy of Ireland/Irish Aid, DFID and now
the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) services are available for the Fund
- Contributing
to the mobilisation of resources needed for the Fund. - Contributing
to the promotion and proper management of the grants system.
jobholder will manage the financial and administrative operations of the
organisation while ensuring that there is value for money.
- Manage the implementation of financial
policies, procedures and regulations. - Make sure that budget monitoring, cash
flow projections, financial controls and operating systems are functioning
and diligently enforced - Responsible for generation of the
organisation’s financial reports i.e. monthly, quarterly, semi-annually
and annually. - Ensure contracting and procurement
procedures and regulations are based on the approved procedures in place - Ensure efficient and user friendly
administrative services are available of the Fund - Ensure that the Fund Secretariat is up
and running - Contribute to the mobilisation of
resources needed for the Fund - Significantly contribute to the
promotion and proper management of the grants system - Contribute to the creation of awareness
of the IDF as an organisation and its activities. - Perform any other duties as may be
assigned by Executive Director.
- The applicant should possess a
bachelor’s degree in financial management and professional courses like
ACCA, CPA, & CMIA. Possession of a Master’s degree or equivalent
postgraduate qualifications in Finance or Accounting will be an added
advantage. - Personnel & human resource
management training, contracts management - A minimum of five years’ experience in
managing financial resources in a reputable organisation and preferably at
Senior Management level. - At least three years’ managing grant
financing and contracts - Computer proficiency in using SAGE
accounting system
