Share An Opportunity Uganda (SAO – U) is a National Christian founded child focused NGO empowering households and communities to fulfill their obligations in child care and development and affiliated to Baptist Union of Uganda. Share An Opportunity – Uganda’s key thematic areas are child health, Basic Education for OVC’s, Child Advocacy, Enterprise Development and food security, and institutional development for community based organisations while HIV/AIDS is mainstreamed in the program
Job Summary:  The Programme Manager will mainly;
  • Support the Country Director in the development of an appropriate sustainable development programme through appropriate programmes and strategies.
  • Manage SAO Uganda programme implementation, work plans and coordination.
  • Oversee the proposal development process including operational documents.
  • Actively facilitate staff capacity building.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Design programmes and activities
  • Manage and supervise programme implementation
  • Make sure that programme’s strategic objectives are met
  • Carry out periodic reviews and assessment of project implementation of planned activities
  • Manage the development of organisational proposals including the annuals ones
  • Raise funds for the different projects of the programmes, which is resource mobilisation
  • Compile and prepare ensure timely reports are presented to the Country Director
  • Offer backstopping services to the Regional Centres
  • Make sure that training of staff on the different levels of the programme approaches or design
  • Develop programme tools at different levels of the programme design
  • Ensure regular and periodic monitoring and evaluation of programme activities
  • Make sure that all programme activities are in line with the organisational goals and objectives
  • Make sure that the programme resources are allocated appropriately
  • Review and approve quarterly work plans and financial requests from regions before sending to Finance department
  • Specific role is to plan financial forecasts for programme needs with Director and Finance Manger
  • Manage and supervise the operations of the regions.
  • Perform any other assignments as management may direct.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The ideal candidate should hold an honours degree in Social Sciences or the equivalent plus post-graduate degree in Management or MA or MBA with a bias in Development Studies.
  • The applicant must have a minimum of seven years’working experience in development and resource mobilisation Management, 4 of which should have been in a managerial position.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and report writing skills, open-minded and well composed.
  • Resource Mobilisation skills.
  • Project planning and development skills.
  • Possess good management skills
  • Good, competitive, highly level efficient, effective well designed and supervised programmes.
