& Advocacy Officer
(CECOD)
national NGO representing FEE international in Uganda and accredited to
UNCCD.CECOD envisions an “Environment with Conserved Eco Systems and
Communities Living Quality Life.” In partnership with the Danish Outdoor
Council (DOC), CECOD is currently promoting access to quality education to
enhance environmental management skills, learners’ action competences and
active citizenship in Uganda-2014-2017.
Responsibilities:
- Work in close collaboration with the
Executive Director to engage Government line institutions for
institutionalization and scale up of the Eco School and HRB approaches. - Take charge of the designing, planning and
implementation of an advocacy strategy and campaigns for Eco schools
programme in Uganda. - Coordinate production of materials for
advocacy, communications and media purposes. - Manage evidence based research, and coordinate preparation,
production of policy briefs for presentation to Government. - Work closely with CAN —Eco schools
coordinate, maintain and build-on existing relationships with key
stakeholders to support the Annual National Green Flag Award scheme. - Perform any other duties assigned from
time to time
Experience:
- The candidate should preferably hold a
university degree (or equivalent) in Mass Communication, Journalism,
International Relations, or related field. - Post Graduate training in policy advocacy
is an added advantage. - Possesses strong leadership skills, be
able to motivate and influence others - Ability to think creatively,
strategically, have excellent judgment and able to work with minimum
supervision. - Excellent ability to communicate
effectively in English, both verbally and in writing - Ability to work independently, meet
deadlines and work in close collaboration with team members. - Excellent analytical skills,
organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail. - Good knowledge and understanding of
advocacy and campaigning work, and ability to tailor messages to different
audiences - Possess the ability to build effective
working relationships with a variety of stakeholders - Past exposure and experience of at least 3
years working with relevant NGOs
