About Continental Forests:
Continental Forests is a Management Contractor for global-woods AG licenced by the government of Uganda to establish and manage a large-scale commercial forest on over 12,000 hectares in Kikonda Central Forest Reserve in Nsambya Sub-county Kyankwanzi district.
Job Summary: The Crop Husbandry Officer will primarily train and impart skills to the farmers in modern, productive and sustainable agriculture practices and technologies. He/she provides appropriate agricultural advice to farmers and Continental Forests Management as and when it is deemed necessary.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mobilise, train and support farmers with appropriate knowledge, skills and technologies for increased farm yields in order to contribute to sustainable house hold food security and income generation.
- Conduct training of farmers in sustainable methods in agriculture and appropriate technologies;
- Monitoring, assessing and prioritizing agriculture intervention activities;
- Organising periodic visits visits to farmers in the communities around the forest plantation to monitor implementation of agreed upon strategies
- Collecting and analyzing and documenting agricultural data;
- Managing demonstration sites
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should possess a Diploma in crop Science/agronomy from a recognized institution.
- At least three years’ experience in training and supporting rural farmers with agricultural extension services.
- Competences in: planning, organizing and coordinating; coaching and mentoring; accountability; communication; concern for quality and standards and time management.
