Founded in 2002 by President William J. Clinton, the Clinton Health
Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to
strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access
to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other illnesses. Based on the
premise that business oriented strategy can facilitate solutions to global health
challenges, CHAI acts as a catalyst to mobilize new resources and optimize the
impact of these resources to save lives, via improved organization of commodity
markets and more effective local management. By working in association with
governments and other NGO partners, CHAI is focused on large scale impact and,
to date, CHAI has secured lower pricing agreements for treatment options in
more than 70 countries. In addition, CHAI’s teams are working side-by-side with
over 30 governments to tackle many of the largest barriers to effective
treatment and care.
Job Summary: The Program
Manager will steer CHAI Uganda’s efforts to strengthen its partnerships with
Uganda’s central medical warehouses with a focus on strengthening the supply
chain and hereby increasing access to medicines. The Program Manager will
manage and offer support that includes but is not limited to data analysis,
software development, strategic advisory support, logistics and distribution
technical assistance, and other tasks—some of which comes with a high level of
urgency and quick timelines for output delivery. The Program Manager will be
required to skillfully represent CHAI’s priorities to clients while recognizing
and focusing on the client’s priorities and key interests.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Oversee the strategy and day-to-day
    priorities of CHAI Uganda’s central warehouse-facing work
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with
    central warehouse senior and operational management
  • Deliver on current projects and
    commitments while scoping out new initiatives and providing thought
    partnership to client
  • Make sure that eHealth related initiatives
    are delivered in an integrated, timely and sustainable manner, and support
    the growth and prioritization of the eHealth project portfolio
  • Drive forward initiatives to promote a
    stable supply of all commodities
  • Assist in aligning central warehouse
    stakeholders with other stakeholders in the health system
  • Provide key analytical support and thought
    leadership both internally and externally to clients on commodity
    supplies, budgeting and procurement practices, best practices for
    logistics and distribution at a global and East Africa level
  • Offer technical guidance and assistance to
    strengthen procurement and planning practices
  • Jump in as needed to provide analytical,
    project management, or other support as situations and/or the level of
    urgency of a deliverable dictates it
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor of
    Arts from a top tier university
  • Possession of an MBA or MA preferred (or
    equivalent experience)
  • Five or more years’ experience in
    management consulting, or in a supply chain, logistics and distribution
    management environment. Other similar experience will be considered.
  • Proven experience building relationships
    with senior managers and organizational leaders
  • Strong management skills
  • The ideal candidate should have experience
    in managing multiple client relationships at a senior and operational
    level
  • Possess exceptional business judgment
  • Excels in building strategy and structure
    in an ambiguous environment
  • Enjoys initiating, building, and
    strengthening client relationships, and prefers to be working on many
    different projects at one time.
  • Superb analytical skills and sophisticated
    communication skills in a variety of formats (excel, powerpoint, word,
    databases, etc.)
  • Possess the ability to build and
    understand complex databases and multi-layered data sets
  • Exceptional performance in ambiguous,
    fluid, or unstructured work environments
  • Demonstrated success balancing multiple
    priorities and projects at once
  • Experience or strong interest in supply
    chain
  • Prior exposure and experience or strong
    interest in software development
  • Past experience working in East Africa
