Atomic Energy Council (AEC) is a Government agency established by the Atomic
Energy Act. 2008 Cap 143, Laws of Uganda, with the mandate to regulate the
peaceful applications and management of ionizing radiation for the protection
and safety of society and the environment from the dangers resulting from
ionizing radiation; provide for the regulation of the development of nuclear
energy for use in power generation in compliance with international safety
requirements.
and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Principal Radiation
Protection Officer (PRPO) should possess a Masters degree in Nuclear
Science, Physics, Electronics and Communications Sciences, Electrical and
Telecommunications Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Radiological Health,
Medical Physics. Radiation Protection or Radiation Physics. - Five or more years’ experience in the nuclear
environment or related field. - A postgraduate training in management and
possession of a qualification in Lav/ will be an added advantage. - Effective oral and written communication skills
- Prior staff supervision skills
- Excellent planning and organisation skills
- Research and report writing skills
- Excellent analytical and critical reasoning
skills - Good interpersonal skills
- Good negotiation skills
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
