About UVRI:
The Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) signed an MOU with the U.S
Centres for Disease Control (CDC) to strengthen capacity through the management
and coordination of laboratory surveillance, epidemiology, public health
evaluations and training in Uganda under PEPFAR.
Job Summary: The Procurement
Assistant for the CDC Project will mainly coordinate all procurements in regard
to this project and ensure that procurements are made, as per required
specifications, in a timely manner, ensure there is value for money and in
accordance with the Project’s NoA, OMB Circular A-122, 45 CFR part 74, HHS
Grants Policy Statement and the PPDA Act 2003, as amended.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Act as the Project’s lead person on
    procurements.
  • Solicit for bids and forward to the
    project procurement committee for appraisal
  • Work closely with the project procurement
    committee to ensure timely approvals
  • Preparation of Local and International
    Purchase Orders
  • Preparation of monthly procurement reports
    to Project Administrator.
  • Make certain that all user specifications
    are clear enough to facilitate the procurement of the desired items.
  • Work in liaison with the store keeper to
    verify all incoming supplies against user specifications.
  • Liaise with user departments on
    replenishment in respect to lead times and delivery
  • Perform any other duties that may be
    assigned by Project management.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • All applicants should have at least a
    Bachelor’s Degree specialising in Procurement or its equivalent from a
    recognized institution, and Professional qualification in procurement e.g.
    CIPS or other post-graduate qualification in procurement will added
    advantage.
  • At least four years’ experience in project
    procurement; and should be highly knowledgeable in the USG and UG
    procurement procedures and regulations.
  • The applicant should also have proficiency
    in E-Procurement.
