Job Summary: The incumbent will;
  • Manage self directing, multi-functional teams to efficiently process poultry products to meet customer order requirements within management performance parameters ensuring adherence to defined Product Specifications, Quality & Safety Standards
  • Manage resources to ensure cost effective manufacture in line with budget
  • Ensure that all poultry products are packed to fulfill internal customer service requirements whilst meeting agreed quality specifications and cost parameters and ensuring that all necessary resources are available and utilised in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Result Areas:
Quality: Optimise product quality ensuring that products meet required specifications.
Service: Maximise service to internal customers, right product, and right time at the right specification.
Cost: Optimise product (yield & wastage) and plant utilization to maximise the contribution to profitably of the operation.
Health & Safety: Provide all necessary on the job training to staff to ensure all activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
Man Planning: Direct, Manage and control required manpower & resources efficiently to achieve production targets & motivate the work forces to meet future business challenges.
Staff development: Identify, plan and implement requisite training in order to ensure continued development of all team members ensuring that an adequately maintained skills inventory is in place
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a qualification in meat processing technology or related discipline
  • Significant e experience in a similar position within a Poultry or Food environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of implementation of international quality standards desirable
  • Past exposure and experience with Automated Process Control
  • Experienced in similar position within a poultry /meat or food environment
  • Past experience in production of poultry products.
  • Experienced with Automated Process Control
  • Commissioning of automated plants handling poultry products.
  • The candidate must have led a multifunctional and multicultural work force.
  • Skills in preparing and presenting budgets for the department.
  • Contributed towards developing safe working environment and reducing accidents.
  • Ability to discuss and finalise plans /targets with Production management team with regards to Production and Maintenance activities.
  • Able to identify development needs of employees and ensure adequately maintained skill inventory is in place.
