About JCRC:
Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is a national
Ugandan organization that was established in 1991 as a medical institution and
HIV AIDS Centre of Excellence specializing in medical research, health care and
training.
Job Summary: The Senior Internal Auditor 
will be responsible for planning, executing and reporting on
operational, financial regulatory and compliance related audits /reviews of
JCRC and to provide advice on internal control to JCRC management, including
responding to questions on risk management techniques.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Plans financial,
    regulatory, compliance and operational reviews/ audits.
  • Coordinates legal,
    compliance and other control-related activities.
  • Identifies control gaps
    and opportunities for improvement.
  • Documents results of
    audit work in accordance with audit department and the Institute of
    Internal Auditor (IIA)
    standards.
  • Compiles and prepares
    timely audit reports for top management, audit committee and the Board of
    Trustees.
  • Assess, evaluate and
    promote compliance to JCRC policies.
  • Contributes, as
    appropriate, in the year-end financial audit with the external auditor.
  • Offers advice on internal
    control and participates in enhancing internal audit standards and
    practices within JCRC.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
  • The candidate must
    possess audit/accounting professional qualifications like; CIA, ACCA and
    CPA
  • Ideally, s/he should also
    hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance.
  • Professional membership
    of Institute Internal Auditors (IIA) is desirable
  • A minimum of three years’
    working experience in audit management positions in a large and dynamic
    organization.
  • Excellent understanding
    of the standards of Internal Auditors (IIA) and ability to fully comply with
    IIA standards.
  • Possess the ability to
    monitor multiple projects and supervise auditors.
