primarily responsible for planning, designing and coordinating the
implementation of best practice human resource strategies, processes and
procedures that will attract, develop, motivate and retain the required human
resources while maximizing efficiency, productivity and effectiveness. The
incumbent will be directing and leading a strategic Human Resources function
for MPL, including the design and development of Human Resources (HR) policies,
procedures and guidelines. As an integral member of the Executive team, the
Head of Human Resources will be required to constantly review, update and
coordinate functions/activities geared towards meeting the company’s business
objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the formulation of
the MPL strategy; - Formulate and execute and monitor the HR
policy, plans and objectives working closely with the MD and the Group HR
Director. - Direct the development and review of staff
terms and conditions of service, HR strategies, policies and procedures,
working closely with the MD, Management Team and the Group HR Director; - Drive and grow the HR vision by providing
functional direction, coordination and advice to the business; - Develop and guide the organisation
structure on staffing, reward/compensation, recruitment, transfers,
termination and promotion of all staff within MPL; - Prepare, defend and control the approved
HR budget; - Advise, in consultation with the Heads of
Departments, on staff development (Training, career Development,
Succession Planning); - Actively coordinate the profiling,
evaluation and grading of all company Jobs; - Coordinate the implementation of the
Performance Management and Talent Review Systems; - Appraise and evaluate the performance of
the HR employees; - Monitor and follow up on proper Industrial
Relations; - Responsible for managing Staff welfare;
- Keep safe custody of all HR Records;
- Identify global best practice and advise
Management on benefits. Responsible for roll out of approved benefits and
keep the HR function updated; - Maintain and make available the relevant
HR tools and practices to support desired culture; - Promote effective internal communications;
- Work with the Company’s Executive team to
ensure that the systems are aligned to the business needs;
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should hold a
bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Social Sciences or any
other related field from an accredited institution; - Professional Qualification and or Post
Graduate Degree in relevant field e.g. Human Resource, Organizational
Development, Organizational Psychology, CIPD and or an MBA; - A minimum of ten years’ working experience
in Human Resources, in the wider commercial sector including at least 3
years at Head of department level. - Possess excellent communication skills
oral and written; - Excellent interpersonal skills;
- High standards of integrity; with a clean
track record. - Ability to influence positively;
- High business acumen;
- Excellent organizational and planning
skills; - Highly organised with ability to
multitask; - Assertive, proactive and diligent with
commitment to high standards of service delivery; - Creative and innovative, with a forward
thinking approach; - Ability to prioritize, organize own
workload and manage projects to completion; - Ability to work well under pressure and
with tight time constraints; - Working knowledge of the country labor
laws; - Possess the ability to make sound judgment
& decisions, providing advice and guidance on all HR organizational
matters.
