About EADEN:
The Eastern Archdiocesan
Development Network (EADEN) is the network of Caritas organizations of the
Catholic Church in the Province of Tororo. It covers the Dioceses of Jinja, Tororo,
Soroti, Kotido and Moroto. It was established to coordinate development
initiatives in the Province and link network members and partners locally,
nationally and internationally.
Job Summary: The
Executive Director will;
  • Implement the strategic goals and
    objectives of the organization
  • With the chair, enable the Board to fulfill
    its governance function
  • Offer direction and leadership toward
    the achievement of the organization’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and its
    annual goals and objectives.
  • This vacancy involves  determining, strengthening policies and
    providing overall direction of EADEN as an organization, linking Network
    members and partners within the guidelines set by the assembly of member
    organisations, the Board of Directors and the Council of Bishops of the
    Eastern Region. It involves close collaboration with the Caritas Uganda
    and the ecclesiastical leadership.
  • The position consists of planning,
    directing, networking and coordinating operational activities at the
    highest level of management supported by other subordinate staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Periodically analyze operations to
    evaluate the performance and its staff/management in meeting the
    objectives and determining areas of potential program improvement, cost
    reduction and policy change.
  • Appoint department heads or managers,
    assign or delegate responsibilities to them
  • Confer with board members, partners in
    the network and staff to discuss issues, coordinate activities and resolve
    problems.
  • Manage and coordinate activities of
    EADEN and other departments.
  • Oversee and coordinate financial and
    budget activities to fund operations, maximize output and increase
    efficiency.
  • Guide Human Resource activities
    including the approval of Human Resource plans and activities, the selection
    of management, other high level staff issues and establishment of EADEN
    major departments
  • Direct, plan and implement policies, objectives
    and activities of EADEN
  • Negotiate or improve contracts and
    agreements with other key partners and donors
  • Prepare budgets for approval, including
    those for funding and implementation of programs
  • Review reports submitted by staffs, and
    other key stakeholders and recommend for approval
  • Build the capacity of network members to
    plan, implement and manage development initiatives in the Province.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must possess a good Master’s
    Degree in Development Studies, Organizational Development, Social Sciences
    or related fields from a well-recognized university.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience as
    manager of a large organization of a similar nature.
  • Possess the ability to identify and
    manage complex problems and review related information to develop and
    evaluate opinions and implement solutions.
  • Ability to consider relative costs and
    benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Ability to give full attention to what
    other people are saying and use logic and reason to identify the strengths
    and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
  • Past exposure and experience from a
    Faith Based Organisation may be an added advantage.
  • High degree of Personal Integrity – being
    honest, truthful and ethical
  • Leadership- Willingness to lead, take
    charge and offer opinion and direction
  • Innovativeness and Initiative- creative,
    willingness to take responsibilities and challenges
  • Strategic perspective – ability to plan
    for and look to future development and growth of the organization

    and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations.
  • Result oriented and good at decision
    making, achievements – establishing and maintaining personally challenging
    achievements, goals and exerting effort towards mastering tasks
