Job Summary: The Human Resource Manager
will offer technical guidance and manage all aspects of the human resources
function by ensuring the availability of a competent and well-motivated staff
throughout the Country Programme, and the sustenance of individual and
organizational growth and performance.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Actively participate in the development
    and implementation of the Country Programme Strategic Plan and
    specifically the Human resources aspect.
  • Ensure consistency in the interpretation
    of AMREF HR policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in the design of
    organizational change processes needed to achieve the required goals.
  • Engage in the manpower planning and
    staffing within the Country Program with a focus on diversity and ensuring
    gender balance.
  • Manage staff performance including
    induction, probation and its end, confirmation and the annual performance
    evaluation in accordance to the policies and procedures.
  • Technically support training and
    development activities including planning and delivering within the
    Country Programme;
  • Actively participate in the design and
    implementation of policies in line with AMREF global practices and local
    employment requirements;
  • Participate as a member of the AMREF
    global HR team.
  • Work closely with the finance department
    administer salaries/ payroll and benefits for Country Programme staff.
  • Build a workplace environment consistent
    with the organization’s value and mission.
  • Ensuring AMREF’s compliance with all
    national legal and statutory requirements for the management of its HR
    resources.
  • Compile and generate HR reports
    periodically.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The candidate must hold an MBA in Human
    Resource Management or a related field a must.
  • The ideal candidate will have a first
    degree in Human Resource Management, Social Sciences or related
    discipline.
  • At least five years’ experience in Human
    Resource Management and development at a senior level.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the
    HR functional areas and in the application of statutory and labour laws
    and of best practices in HR.
  • Practical experience in the functions of
    Human Resource Management.
  • Practical experience of Training and
    Performance Management.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of
    emerging HR issues and trends.
  • Understanding of the Country labour Laws
    in comparison with different policies.
  • Possess the ability to work independently
    and with minimal supervision.
  • Highly flexible in handling work
    assignments and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Commitment to quality and thoroughness.
  • High degree of integrity and
    confidentiality.
  • Empathy.
  • Commitment to quality and thoroughness.
  • Non-judgmental approach in human
    relations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and
    management of Conflict in the workplace, communication skills .both
    written and verbal, influencing, facilitation and negotiation skills and
    be computer literate.
  • Ability to work in automated Human
    Resource Management Information System will be a definite advantage.
