- Nurture and develop new approaches towards quality basic education improvement through youth engagement and support for the early grade reading. The entry point will be by tapping pertinent talents from the pool of brilliant young graduates that are fresh from the university, have no experience but are highly motivated and have a passion for quality education improvement. This will enhance the aim of building local capacity and shaping the future’s manpower especially in the strategic areas of community development through these young graduates interested in developing their career in community development where they will be trained, mentored and groomed for the same.
- Through routine practical community development – youth engagement work for improved early grade reading, the SDS program will in turn be supported by the interns to not only implement the organizational youth strategy but also fulfill the increasing demand and need for innovations and local solutions in community development.
- Offer practical and guided hands-on, tailor-made training, coaching, mentoring and support supervision to identified young graduates interested in developing a career in community development through innovations like youth engagement in early grade reading,
- Beef up the manpower of SDS program through recruiting interns who will assist in implementation of the increasingly demanding community development programmatic activities such as: community development planning processes, relationship management, networking, collaboration, documentation and report writing.
- The internship scheme targets brilliant, highly and self motivated, interested young graduates (30 years and below) with a passion for M&E.
- Potential interns will possess a Bachelors’ degree in areas of: Statistics, Economics, Demography and Population Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Social Work and Social Administration, Social Anthropology, Information Technology, Finance and Financial Management; and any other related disciplines.
- The scheme is open to all qualified Ugandans from different institutions, ethnic backgrounds and gender that are ready to contribute to the pragmatic social development process of the country using the acquired M&E and Community development /youth engagement skills.
