The Secretary, Prisons Authority invites applications
from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens to fill vacant posts of Cadet
Assistant Superintendent of Prisons currently existing in the Uganda Prisons

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- The Cadet Assistant will
be in- Charge of Prisons Institutions. - In charge of the safety and security of the
institutions,. - Responsible for humane
correctional training of inmates confined therein. - Supervising, mentoring
and appraising subordinate staff. - Responsible for
discipline of institutional staff and inmates. - Responsible for general
accountability of all Government stores under his/her supervision. - Prepare contracts ‘for
construction and consultancy services. - Actively participating in
construction site meetings and preparing reports. - Collecting any
information for certifying payment certificates. - Perform any other duties
as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:

- All applicants must be
Ugandans holding an Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in any of the disciplines
either in Arts or 2 Sciences (Pure and Applied) from a recognised
University or Institution.
Age: 22 – 30 years

undergo a twelve (12) months Cadet Officers’ Course at the Prisons Training
School and Staff College plus three (3) months attachment. Appointment as Cadet
Assistant Superintendent of Prisons will only be effective after successful

Cadet Officers in scientific and professional fields
must be prepared to work in a Penal Institution on General Duties for at least
two (2) years before deployment to their respective stations of specialization.
