About ZOA:
ZOA is an International Non-Governmental Organisation working in Uganda
since 1998. Its mission is to assist in rebuilding the livelihoods of peoples
who are affected by human conflict or natural disaster. We operate in 15
countries in Africa and Asia. Our community based programme in Uganda
concentrates on Food Security, Livelihoods/Economic Development, Vocational
Training, Education and WASH and is implemented in close cooperation with local
organizations and local government.
Job Summary: The
Administrator is primarily responsible for the correct, accurate and timely
handling of the accounts and other system related matters. The Administrator
handles and oversees logistical affairs and other administrative duties in the
office, manages the support staff and advises the Programme Manager in all
Finance, Logistics and Human Resource matters.
Key Duties &
Responsibilities:
  • Steer the engineering activities during
    feasibility studies, technical design and construction works
  • Perform feasibility surveys of potential
    sites incl. topo-surveys, flow estimations and soil assessment
  • Prepare technical design inclusive
    development of Bill of Quantities and (sketch) drawings
  • Manage community construction works and
    provide technical advice
  • Oversee contractors for minor components
  • The Engineer will mentor 1 or 2 university
    graduates and the ZOA junior engineers
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
  • The applicant should ideally hold a
    Diploma in civil, irrigation or water engineering
  • A minimum of eight years’ practical
    experience in rural construction works
  • Demonstrated experience in technical
    design
  • Proven experience with water related
    construction works and community led construction works
  • Good knowledge and understanding of
    surveying, hydrology and soil stability
  • Excellent motorcycle riding skills with a
    valid riding permit
  • Ability to lead a team of junior staff and
    lead by example
  • High interest in fieldwork under difficult
    conditions
  • Possess willingness to live and work in
    Amudat district, Karamoja
