World Venture in Uganda, Uganda
Venture, seeks to strengthen and enlarge the church of Jesus Christ as they
minister holistically to children, youth, and adults, to those of minority
groups, and to the disenfranchised, in partnership with the Baptist Union of
Uganda and other local churches, through formal and informal education in
leadership training and through strategic relationships. They do this
envisaging creative, vibrant, and reproducing churches composed of mature
believers of integrity, equipped through holistic training, who are committed
to building strong family units, mentoring others, and impacting the circles in
which they move in positive and profound ways.

Job Summary: Over the
last 20 years, almost 2000 Baptist Churches have started. Many of these are
located in rural areas with limited medical facilities. The Community Health
Mobilizer will use his / her medical or community health training and
experience to train students, teachers, pastors and villagers in hygiene, first
aid, safety issues, disease prevention and treatment, alcoholism, etc.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Learn
language and culture (depending on time commitment). - Learn
and participate in a village/church or group of villages/churches to
provide health training/community health training. - This
job role requires a hands-on approach dealing with individuals at the grass roots level or from a training
of trainers approach by bringing together groups who could continue the
training on a more local level and in local languages.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the World Venture Community Health Mobilizer should
possess a BA or higher in a medical/nursing/community health or related
field. - Thirty
hours of Bible training minimum on long-term stays. - Prior
medical experience will be an added advantage. - Past
training in tropical medicine is necessary and a short course could be
obtained at the beginning as part of your mission work - Highly
compassionate - Excellent
coaching ability, team work, able to work in among poor with limited
resources. - Willingness
to have very broad impact by training others. - Willing
to travel a lot, self-starter (you would not be stepping into an existing
role). - Will need to be willing to learn how to prepare food from scratch
and eat local foods.
