Job Summary: The Umeme District Managers will mainly be responsible for the development and
management of District business operations in a safe and customer-centric
manner. The incumbents will also be overseeing effective implementation of the
operations elements of Umeme’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) at the District
level as directed by the Regional Manager.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Offer leadership and
overall management of resources at District level in order to deliver
company agreed performance levels and targets. - Steer the District
business operations to deliver Safety, Loss Reduction and collections
targets for the agreed customer base. - Take charge of ensuring timely
resolution of customer complaints. - Develop and support
strategies for billing all energy consumed and collect all revenue
accruing there from. - Create a culture of
proactive customer service within the District. - Maximize sales revenue
collection. - Ensure meter installation
standards are adhered to in order to limit energy losses. - Enforce credit control
procedures. - Work closely with the
Engineering Department in order to ensure that power supply expectations
are met. - Develop the annual
operational budget for their District based on the AOP and monitor its
implementation. - Work closely with other
Umeme departments, particularly Engineering, to identify and resolve
problems impacting service to customers. - Ensure optimal use and
security of all company assets assigned to the District. - Offer management
information with regard to monthly performance reporting, highlighting
negative trends and recommending and /or implementing solutions. - Technically support
effective implementation of new Umeme technology and processes in the
District. - Work with the supervisor,
the Regional Manager, to build and maintain a good relationship with all
stakeholders. - Manage staff performance
within the District and ensure maximum staff welfare.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidates must
possess good Business Degrees or degrees in a related field or Electrical
Engineering. - A minimum of five years’
post qualification experience in a commercially driven organization with
high standard business ethics. - High degree of honesty
and personal integrity, - Possess the ability to
understand commercially driven environments - Safety conscious
- High team ethic
- Excellent customer care
skills, - Good Leadership skills
- Excellent communication
skills - Computer literacy skills and
Knowledge of power system operations in an electricity distribution
environment.
