About MSU:
Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU) is a marketing-focused, results-oriented
social business that uses modem management and marketing techniques to provide
family planning and reproductive healthcare across every district of Uganda. For
over 20 years, Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU) has been working to provide voluntary
family planning (FP) services to thousands of men and women across the country.
MSU is the largest, most specialized private FP and reproductive health (RH)
organization working in every district of Uganda with approximately 30% of
modern contraceptive market share. 90% of our clients are women living in rural
and underserved areas where health services, particularly family planning are
not readily available. MSU is a key implementing partner of the Ministry of
Health, particularly the division of Reproductive Health at Central, Regional
and District levels. MSU receives funding from USAID, UKaid, UNFPA, the Dutch
Government, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as private foundations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update financial
    records, supporting documents, statistical records and other records
    pertinent to the   project in
    accordance with the organization’s accounting.
  • Prepare and present
    annual project budgets related to work plans as per the donor contracts.
  • Monitor the allocation
    of project income and expenditure to ensure that project reports are
    accurate.
  • Intuitively prepare
    quarterly and annual cash  flow  projections  and monitor project expenditures to  ensure 
    that  they  remain within  the 
    approved  budget and
    comply  with  the 
    project Contract and 
    policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and
    guidance to the project team and subcontractor staff in management of
    finance and contracts as and when such need arises.
  • Work in liaison with
    the head office finance team to ensure effective integration and of
    efficient project financial activities into the organization’s financial
    management and information system.
  • Validate financials
    and memo data to work plans and Performance management Plan (PMP).
  • Liaise with project auditors
    to ensure efficient completion of project audits and reports.
  • Ensure that all project
    staff adhere to MSU policies and procedures and donor requirements.
  • Ensure that all project

  • Ensure that monthly,
    quarterly  and  annual 
    project financial  and  related 
    reports are submitted  to
    Executive Team by  the  given 
    deadline.  All reports must
    conform to donor specified formats.
  • Responsible for the day
    to day financial authorizations of fuel perdiems and maintenance costs
    with direct support and supervision of the line manager
  • Take lead in the induction
    process of new staff and work with supervisor to make a finance induction
    pack/handbook.
  • Represent Marie Stopes
    Uganda at meetings with Donors on finance and administration issues
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The ideal candidate
    must hold a bachelor’s degree of finance in Business Administration
  • Member of a recognized
    accounting professional body e.g. ACCA, CPA
  • Three or more years’
    experience as Project Accountant managing large complex, multi functional
    bilateral donor funded programmes
  • Excellent report
    writing and analytical skills
  • Possess the ability to
    supervise and monitor a team
  • Ability to work longer
    hours
  • Ability to work under
    pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent planning and
    prioritization skills
  • Be a good team player
