MTN-Uganda is the leading
telecommunications Company in Uganda, providing payphone, fixed lines,
fax/data, internet and mobile services. MTN Uganda launched commercial services
in Uganda, just six months after acquiring and signing of the license. MTN has
since grown to be the leading Telecommunications Company in Uganda servicing in
excess of 6 Million customers and growing. Despite insufficient infrastructure,
MTN has covered in excess of 90% of the population, providing services in over
150 towns and villages and their immediate environments.
Job Summary: The Manager
Trade Marketing will mainly oversee and manage all MTN brand and communications
activities in the trade. This will include but is not limited to, ensuring
adequate/up-to-date visibility of all MTN propositions in the trade and
managing all liaisons with the field teams (Sales & Distribution, Network
Group) to ensure that the trade is properly equipped to effectively support the
growth of affinity and sales for the MTN brand.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure
    sustainable Brand presence within all Regions.
  • Offer
    marketing support in the regions by planning for and providing timely
    Point of Sales (PoS), Product awareness through various trade activations,
    Outlets (Dealers shops, MTN service center, connect stores and retail out
    lets) and Brand visibility through various material like wall branding,
    billboards, pole signage, streets and retail out let signage etc.)
  • Build
    synergy across other segment functions (Consumer, Sponsorships, Planning
    & Services, Enterprise, Retention/Social media, S&D, Network and
    other departments.) to meet the overall Trade marketing objectives.
  • Coordinating
    all stakeholders in ensuring an updated and consistent look & feel in
    all MTN outlets i.e. Service centers connect stores as per approved Group
    CI.
  • Offer
    administrative support on all cross functional issues affecting the Trade
    in the various regions, including reports and financials.
  • Participating
    in tender commits as a member and manage the related Trade Support budget.
  • Ensure
    that personal development plans (PDPs) of RMCs are supported (Internal and
    external training /workshops e.g. CIM workshop)
  • Depict
    market intelligence from the war room tool to drive the regional marketing
    plan and strategy execution.
  • Work
    with and through the Regional Business Managers (RBMs) to ensure that MTN
    brand and commercial objectives are through a collaborative effort of
    executing within the regions
  • Perform
    any other function as may be delegated by the Senior Manager – Brand &
    Communications.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate must possess a good business degree (or its equivalent)
    with a bias to marketing, communications or a related field.
  • A
    minimum of two to three years’ experience  in trade marketing environment.
  • Management/
    supervisory experience is of added advantage.
  • Additional
    knowledge and experience requirements:
  • Team
    leader experience.
  • Possess
    the ability to create market relevance and opportunities from abstract
    opportunities and conceptual plans.
  • Overall
    market knowledge.
  • Ability
    to track competitor market activities and strategic maneuvers.
  • Good
    understanding of market trends.
  • Knowledge
    of MTN products and services.
  • Basic
    financial literacy.
  • Training
    (of added advantage)

  • The
