Development Officer
providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale up comprehensive HIV/AIDS
Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda. It is situated on Entebbe Road,
Lweza, south of Kampala, Uganda.
responsible for the generation of both unrestricted and restricted revenue for
MUg programmes through timely submission of well researched and well written
grants/ fundraising proposals.
for MUg programmes:
- Continuously
scan the environment for possible funding opportunities in line with MUg
strategic objectives - Research on
the interests of prospective donors identifying opportunities in line with
MUg strategic objectives - Work with MUg
technical staff to research and document concepts for sharing with
potential donors - Carries out
library and electronic research, compiles data, in-puts and retrieves data
for purposes of developing quality grants/fundraising proposals - Collaborate
with other MUg technical teams to maintains comprehensive knowledge bank
of particular areas needed in identifying and soliciting grants - Actively
participate in periodic evaluations of MUg capacity to respond to funding
opportunities
activities required to prepare and submit grants/fundraising proposals;
- Generates
creative project designs/concepts to inform project development,
transforming creative ideas and technical content into coherently written
texts. - Co-ordinates
technical in-put for writing purposes ensuring factual accuracy for all
content collected - Facilitates
research, review and editing of proposals ensuring that all proposals are
in line with donor requirements and that the final version of the proposal
is of high quality. - Develop a
database of potential content for proposals, ensuring that MUg has an
offering pre-prepared for all major areas of donor interests
and business development function aiming to ensure that all activities related
to the grants and fundraising function are well co-ordinated, and internal and
external communication related to the function is well managed;
- Supports the
processing of information from grants/fundraising opportunities and makes
presentations to technical staff for concept refinement and strategy
development - Works with
the Director Strategy and partnerships to prepare correspondences, - Works with
the Director Strategy and partnerships to develop contracts and MOUs
ensuring that MUg and partners’ interests are protected and that they are
legally binding - Works with
finance team to gather information necessary for budgeting for grant
proposals and reporting on grant implementation - Works with
technical staff to collect support documents for the various
grants/fundraising proposals, scrutinising all of them to ensure they are
in line with requirements
Experience:
- The
prospective Mildmay employee should hold a Bachelors degree in Medicine,
Nursing or Social Sciences - Possession of
a Masters’ degree in Public Health
will be highly advantageous - Additional
qualification in Project Planning and Monitoring - Excellent
track record of writing winning proposals - A minimum of
three years’ work experience in grants writing and programme development - Highly
organized - Ability to
implement systems and follow up processes - Ability to
work effectively under pressure - Ability to
use independent judgement - Possess a
