Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Offer
    support to FAO field offices to follow-up and monitor project input
    deliveries, activities and compliance by suppliers, implementing partners
    and consultants, and generate feedback and verification reports to enable
    timely oversight by the relevant technical and administrative officers;
  • Under
    the supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit and the head of office
    measure the performance of DFID project against targeted outcome/outputs,
    indicators and all key bench marks,
  • Provide
    liaison support and trouble-shooting to the project Implementing Partners
    in all process monitoring data collection, processing and reporting,
    including FFS tracking and mapping;
  • Actively
    participate in all field research activities, including remote sensing,
    ground-truthing, and action research, PET, watershed mapping, food
    security/needs assessments (including HEA baseline and seasonal
    assessments);
  • Work
    in close collaboration with the Information, Communication and Reporting
    officers, support the collection, collation and compilation of beneficiary
    success stories, photos and other communication material on a regular and
    timely basis;
  • Offer
    technical support to the coordination of the Food Security Sector Working
    Group through soliciting and compilation of data on the
    activities/interventions of the different actors (Government departments,
    UN, NGOs, farmer groups/ associations and private sector).
  • Perform
    any other relevant duties requested
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    prospective Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
    should hold a University degree, preferably in Agriculture, Rural
    Development, Economics or Social Sciences.
  • At
    least a year to two years’ professional experience in socioeconomic,
    agricultural and livelihood statistical data collection, processing and
    interpretation.
  • Excellent
    command of  both spoken and written
    English
  • Possess
    the ability to communicate in the most common local languages.
  • Significant
    knowledge on project cycle management, monitoring and evaluation;
  • In-depth
    knowledge and experience in designing, conducting or participating in
    project monitoring processes;
  • Broad
    range of skills in collecting, managing and analyzing data from rural
    socio-economic, food security and livelihood studies;
  • Proven
    ability and/or willingness to interact and work among rural communities in
    remote and hard-to-reach areas like Karamoja, and with a wide
    cross-section of partners: Government, NGOs, communities, media and
    international donors;
  • Demonstrated
    mature judgment combined with a proactive, energetic approach to problem
    solving; excellent interpersonal and communication skills (ability to communicate
    clearly and concisely both in writing and orally);
  • Demonstrated
    ability to work effectively in a team and with problem solving skills.
