Bureau (UPMB) was founded in 1957 as a registered faith based Non-Governmental
Organization under the Trustees Incorporation Act (CAP 165) as Registered
Trustees of the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau. UPMB Brings together
Protestant Churches in Uganda involved in Provision of Health Services. It
serves as a link between Government/Development Partners and UPMB-Member
Institutions and provides support to its members through capacity
strengthening, coordination, lobbying and Advocacy, public relations and
translation of government policies.
Accounts Assistant will conduct routine clerical duties in support of the
finance function, including but not limited to collecting and processing cash
and cheque payments & receipts, using manual and/or computerized
accountancy processes.
- Receive
all payments (cash and cheques) post them into books on a daily basis - Deposit
all receipts into the bank accounts on a daily basis - Maintain
a petty cash book and make bank withdrawals for purposes of timely
replenishment of the imprest level - Maintain
monthly cash book balances to ascertain the actual amounts carried forward
for the next period. - Prepare
payment vouchers with all their supporting documents, including but not
limited to; invoices, receipts, memos and all available correspondences
for approval. - Write
cheques, drafts and process bank transfers, upon authorized and approved
payment vouchers and disburse cash to the respective beneficiaries - Post
all receipts and payments electronically using an approved accounting
package - Establish
and maintain an efficient and effective coding, filing and retrieval
system for financial documents - Maintain
a record of all creditors and Debtors
- The
Accounts Assistant should hold a good Bachelors Degree in Commerce or
Business Administration majoring in Accounting - At
least two to three years’ experience in a similar position in church based
organizations or NGOs. - High
degree of personal integrity, - Excellent
analytical skills with a keen eye for detail - Excellent
communication skills and interpersonal skills - Self-organized
and assertive characteristics - Good
command of the English language
