Health and Reading Program
USAID program that aims to improve early grade reading outcomes for children in
primary grades and develop sustainable health education systems that support
national HIV/AIDS prevention efforts.
will technically support the Literacy Advisor to coordinate and harmonize the
materials development and the teacher training and supervision arms of the
program. S/he will support the planning and oversight of materials development,
production and distribution activities.
- Coordinate
the production of materials through printing to delivery. - Work with
book charities to ensure books are appropriately selected and distributed
to target schools. - Document
best practices, success stories and input in strengthening relevant
education policies and publishing guidelines. - Supervise
the planning of the development, editing, production and distribution of
the program’s reading instructional materials. - Perform
any other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief of Party.
- The
Literacy Coordinator must hold a good master’s degree - Three or
more years’ experience in education, development studies, or related
field; or Bachelor’s degree with six years relevant experience in the
development sector - Prior
working experience in teacher training, curriculum planning, development
and design - Possess
the ability to regularly and flexibly travel between districts and
designated project Units. - Fluency
in English and excellent writing skills and speaking fluency in at least
one local language - The
applicant must possess a high degree of motivation.
