The Aga Khan University in conjunction with the Aga Khan Health Service in Uganda invites applications for the vacancies above based in Kampala. Uganda.
Job Summary: Pharmaceutical Technologist will ensure accurate compounding, dispensing, patient education and handling of pharmaceutical supplies for all orders. S/he will offer effective pharmaceutical services to meet customer needs for the Aga Khan Health Service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive prescriptions from patients, verify and dispense drugs within approved standards and procedures;
- Ensure the accuracy of’ the label before dispensing for right patient, right drug and right quantity, for effective service delivery;
- Accurately verify expiry dates of drugs prior to dispensing to prevent anomalies in service delivery;
- Counsel patients on drug administration for optimum customer satisfaction;
- Contact the physician for inaccuracy in prescription orders,
- Ensure complete documentation of all patient documents, interventions, incidents and other records kept in the outreach clinic;
- Complete the expiry list accurately and in a timely manner for proper recording and monitoring of drugs;
- Maintain and update personal drug knowledge data base
- Ensure that the variance levels in the stock-team are kept to a minimum;
- Comply and observe the environmental health and safety measures and regulations.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Pharmacy Coordinator
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Pharmaceutical Technologist should hold a good diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized Institution.
- The job holder must have three (3) years relevant working experience
- Ideally, s/he must be registered by the Allied Health Professional’s Council with a valid practicing license.
