Job Summary: The Education in
Emergency Officer (EiE Officer)for the South Sudan Refugee Response for Plan International will work
in close collaboration with community volunteers, partners staff, school
teachers, staff of social welfare department, education and child protection
committees and children councils in relevant areas of operation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Education in Emergency Specialist
in the preparation of “Education in Emergency Programme Strategy”, by
doing assessments, situational analysis, by fostering child participation
in activities/planning/ monitoring, and arranging planning & review
meetings with partners and beneficiaries - Oversee, manage and work with EiE Project
animators and volunteers to draft monthly project implementation plans,
for respective location, as a derivative of annual emergency project
implementation plan. - Technically guide, direct and offer assistance
to the volunteers/ animators in running the EiE centers and non-formal
education classes, community mobilization activities, and support in
formation of Children’s Clubs. - With support from the EiE Specialist and other
Technical specialists, conduct trainings and awareness raising activities
for the communities, Children, Volunteers and Partner staff on identified
topics on overall education in emergency interventions. - Produce and submit weekly, monthly and
quarterly reports on project activities as required. - Prepare weekly activities plans with volunteers
and partners and ensure smooth implementation of these plans, monitor
activities in neighboring formal school, EiE centers and Non Formal
Education centers. - Arrange & attend periodic meetings of
Education in Emergency Committees and meetings of Children councils/clubs
and record progress and minutes. - Ensure that education standards are understood by
all key stakeholders and met - In coordination with the EiE team members,
support regular participatory activities with different groups of children
to identify education issues affecting children in their communities, and
assist the teams to develop appropriate responses - Report general education issues present in the
operational areas to the EiE Specialist and /or Emergency Response Manager - Ensure effective links and referral systems
(Child protection, health, psychosocial, etc.) are developed or identified
as appropriate with camp services and or other emergency initiatives. - Lobby for when necessary to ensure that other
international and local service providers in the area act on behalf of
children affected by the emergency in relation to their education needs. - Attend education specific meetings with
authorities, partner organizations, UN, NGOs etc for the representation of
activities and plans and exchange of information as required. - Perform any other job duties as assigned by the
Education Specialist.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should possess two or more years’ experience in Education in Emergency
with relevant trainings; - Possess the ability to carry out assessments
and analyze situation, make work plans and help staff to implement these
plans. - Basic technical knowledge and understanding in
areas of education notably establishing & monitoring activities in
education in emergency centers and non – formal education centers - Ability to consistently prepare weekly progress
reports based on data collection and monitoring visits from the field by
using computerized reporting formats - Possess ability to communicate
professionally with partners,
volunteers and counter parts in relevant departments - Exhibit high flexibility levels with ability to
work in field and travel for long hours for meeting the emergency project
requirements - Show craving for education in emergency; back ground
of dealing with children & young people - Commitment to and understanding of Plan
International aims, values and principles. - Computer literacy skills i.e. good working
knowledge of Microsoft Office and e-mails/ web browsing etc - Ability to communicate in English through
verbal and written communication.
