Fellow
Development Organization in the world, working in a number of countries in
Africa and Asia on poverty alleviation Programs, is registered in Uganda as
BRAC Uganda. The organization implements integrated development approach
combining Education, Health, Agriculture, Livestock, Adolescent Empowerment,
and Micro finance.
Fellow will be responsible for providing technical support for REU’s research
portfolio currently; The Research Unit is conducting 11 randomized control
trials and a total of 17 distinct Research projects. Current research mirrors,
BRAC’s programmatic portfolio in Uganda, which includes work in Agriculture,
Microfinance, Health, Educational, Youth Empowerment, Vocational Training, and
Nutrition, among others. Additionally, The Senior Research Fellow will be
encouraged to explore and develop new research opportunities through which to
leverage BRAC’s position as the largest NGO in Uganda, as well as existing
partnerships with academics from numerous distinguished institutions. In
cooperation with the Research Coordinator and REU Program Manager, the Senior
Fellow will seek opportunities to expand REU’s research portfolio.
- Technical
backstopping for ongoing research and evaluation projects - Working
in collaboration in the design of innovative projects aimed at poverty
alleviation in Uganda - Responsible
for data analysis and report writing - Co-author
reports, conference papers, and academic journal articles - Work in
liaison with other development and Research Institutions to foster
collaboration in on-going and potential - Present
research findings and projects at a variety of public forums - Offer support
the design and implementation of in- house project evaluations - Perform
any other duties as assigned by the Programme Manager Research &
Evaluation.
- The
Senior Research Fellow should hold a Ph.D. Degree in Economics,
Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, Development Studies, Or another
appropriate discipline - Prior
working experience leading impact evaluations, experimental and
quasi-experimental designs - High technical
proficiency in STATA
required; - Computer
literacy skills i.e. proficiency in Microsoft Office products also required - Excellent
verbal and written English, as well as strong interpersonal communication
skills - Possess
the ability to work creatively and produce high quality output in a
loosely structured environment - Excellent
analytical skills - Ability
to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary and
multicultural team
