About MIFUMI:
MIFUMI is a development and Women’s Rights NGO working to strengthen community based and civil society responses to Gender Based Violence(GBV) and has been promoting protection for, and supporting the needs of women and children affected by Domestic Violence across Uganda since 1999 through a multi-agency approach. MIFUMI- is seeking to recruit a self-motivated and result oriented team player who is committed to promoting and protecting the rights of women and children.
Job Summary: The Gender Based Violence Training Manager will mainly coordinate and oversee the delivery of all of MIFUMI’s GBV training and capacity building initiatives across staff groups, community volunteer groups (championship programme), training for inter-agency collaborators at district and national level, and responding to requests from external audiences.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensure all trainings organized by MIFUMI have clear objectives, budgets and all procedures are followed appropriately
· Liaise with key team members to ensure trainings on key topics are taking place according to the work plan and targets set for the programme
· Document all training activities and reports.
· Developed evaluations tools and pre- and post- tests to monitor training effectiveness
· Work closely with case managers, psychosocial officers, legal officers and the M&E officer to ensure follow-on monitoring after trainings
· Documentation of training activities and reports.
· Build partnership with key stakeholders and individuals in our areas of operation
· Prepare training work plans and budgets for the organization.
· Provide Technical support to revise and develop contextualized training and IEC materials
· Coordinate and facilitate training sessions on GBV for the various actors, such as health care providers, Implementing Partners, community services officers, District officials etc.
· Offer technical support to other actors to ensure adequate mainstreaming and inclusion of GBV related issues, and protection in coordination with the MIFUMI Vision
· Conduct orientation sessions and arrange on-the-job training for new hires.
· Evaluate trainers’ performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
· Develop testing and evaluation procedures.
· Carry out or arrange for ongoing GBV training for stakeholders
· Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
· Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
· Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
· Perform any other duties as may be requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate should possess an advanced University degree in social work or other social sciences, public/community health, gender, legal advice as it relates to or related field;
· At least three years’ experience ; running GBV training and capacity building programmes
· Background in Gender-Based Violence, Human Rights and Protection &Sensitivity to the cultural setting and Gender-Based Violence related issues
· Possess a high sense of maturity and skilled at organizing, delivering, documenting and evaluating GBV training and capacity building initiatives
· Must be people centered, a good communicator and enabler
· Good working knowledge of gender issues in development, particularly GBV, including relevant international human rights standards;
· Prior training in gender and GBV issues and their application in humanitarian, conflict, recovery and development settings;
· Past exposure and experience in developing training curricula and conducting trainings, preferably related to GBV and other women sensitive issues.
· Strong written skills and oral communication skills in English, and able to speak more than one local language
· Excellent interpersonal skills, including experience in interagency coordination and donor relations
· Familiarity with participatory training methodologies
· Working experience working in insecure environments on politically and culturally sensitive topics.
· Strong computer skills – MS Word, PowerPoint and outlook Excel
· Possess the ability to work with multiple cultural beneficiaries
