In Uganda, Save implement programmes in six thematic programme areas of Child

Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North,
Rwenzori, North-Eastern and Central regions of Uganda, Currently, Save the
Children has a staff complement of over 170 persons.

overall planning, implementation, management and leadership of the Save the
Children DCR Pamoja Project. The Program Specialist steers the coordinating
with partners, planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities as
well as compiling the plans, budget and project reports for the targeted
regions. In addition, the person is
responsible for identifying partners, providing leadership to partners and the
project teams in the region. The Program Specialist will technically support
the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis
- The ideal Save the
Children employee should ideally hold a bachelors’ Degree in social
sciences, social work and social administration, development studies,
education or any relevant field. Additional Post Graduate training in
Project Management, Community Development is an added advantage. - Good working knowledge
of the educational needs of children in Uganda, including Early Childhood
Development Education, Basic education and other related programming and
policy development. - A minimum of six or
more years’ professional experience with at least 3 years in a middle
level management position in an International NGO particularly those
applying partnership approach, livelihood and addressing children’s
rights. - Prior experience of
working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights
Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is
an added advantage. - Excellent analytical
skills and strategic planning abilities. - Possess the ability to
establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform
effectively as a member of a team. - Willingness to travel
and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions. - Computer literacy skills
- Excellent
documentation skills are mandatory - Availability and
willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses. - Highly developed
cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international
environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures - Ability to intervene
with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary. - Highly developed
interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation
and coaching - Excellent time
management and planning capacity. - Availability and
willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
