be responsible for the implementation of the safety, health and environmental
management policies and procedures in line with both the department and EUL’s
business strategy.
maintain SHEQ management systems to ensure adherence to standards and regulatory
requirements.
- Coordinate
with all emergency team members, safety representatives, staff and
contractors to ensure that all weekly and monthly Safety, Health and
Environment work packages & routines, reports are carried out as per
the Uganda Safety Act of May 2006 and ISO & OHSAS standards - Provide
awareness, education and training to all staff and contractors on Safety,
Health and Environment work packages, procedures, policies - Offer
support to the incident investigation committee to ensure that all Safety,
health and Environments incidents are investigated and close out with
appropriate corrective actions and prevention/learning points in place - Coordinate
SHE information analysis and reporting on a regular basis.
- Ensure a
safe/health and environmental management service in accordance with the
ISO & OHSAS standards and Ugandan legislations - Maintain
an effective accident risk control prevention programme by: analyzing
accident / incident occurrence trends for compiling safety programs action
plans - SHE
Incident recording and investigations. - Offer
administrative support in managing emergency preparedness and response
plan. - Provide
administrative support in implementation of various SHE contracts. - Perform
hazard Identification and risk assessment related to tasks performed,
advise departments to: prevent unsafe conditions and activities - Job
Safety Analysis and Safety Job Observations especially during maintenance
works. - Conduct
regular PPE needs analysis and manage the procurement process.

Managers:

- The
applicant must possess a good degree in Environmental
management/engineering, Industrial/occupational Hygiene, safety
engineering or related courses. - Possess
an additional certificate in Safety, Health Environmental or Quality
management. - At least
three years’ work experience in a similar role in an industrial
environment. - Designing
and implementing safety, health, environment and quality management strategies. - Prior
experience in industrial hygiene, safety Engineering, occupational health
and safety inspection, risks management and quality management in
manufacturing or utility setting
