Louis Dreyfus Commodities a reputable company in Uganda dealing in
Commodity goods is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position ; of
Controller/Accountant. Interested professionals who are dynamic and
enthusiastic are invited to apply. The retained candidate will be responsible
for controlling, managing the company’s finances while supporting the Country
Manager in all administrative matters in Kampala.
Job Summary: The Controller/Accountant will be mainly
responsible for controlling, managing the company’s finances while supporting
the Country Manager in administrative matters.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Stock Management with daily/monthly
    reconciliations including supervision of stock takes.
  • Weekly and monthly reports on all
    commodities including mark to market analysis.
  • Coordinating tax planning activities and
    complying with all applicable taxes.
  • Processing internal and external auditors.
  • Improving accounting processes while liaising
    with finance team in Mombasa.
  • Documenting procedures and maintaining a
    strong internal control environment.
  • Following up on insurance related matters.
  • Controlling the trading position.
  • Responsible for Credit and compliance
    management.
  • Processing all service contracts and
    agreements with third parties.
  • Handling all IT related matters.
  • In charge of Cash flow management
    including FX.
  • Conducting costing analysis on all
    commodities.
  • Preparing budget forecasts and variance
    analysis.
  • Ad-hoc projects:
  • Supervision of an administrative officer
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The Accountant must hold a Bachelor’
    Degree in a business related field.
  • Additional professional qualification is
    strongly preferred and will be an added advantage.
  • Ideally, at least three to five years’
    experience including audit background and controlling in a commodity
    setting. Applicants with audit background only will be considered.
  • Passion for figures and possession of
    adequate knowledge of IFRS.
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to
    pay attention to detail and a strict personality.
  • Self confidence, excellent interpersonal
    and communication skills.
  • A good sense of leadership, a team player
    with the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Possess the ability to drive performance
    with hands on approach and worto extra j hours where need arises.
  • Strong IT skills especially in Excel
    possibly to macro level.
  • Experience in hedging accounting a plus
