Project Officer (2 Career Positions)
Uganda
management NGO based in Uganda in partnership with Living Earth Foundation, UK,
have secured funding from European Union and DFID to deliver a project titled
Jobs and Oil: Improving Access to youth employment in Western Uganda. The
project is designed to support the access to employment of disadvantaged
groups, particularly the youth in Hoima and Buliisa Districts through targeted
vocational and technical training and the promotion of local enterprise to
supply workforce and service needs of the burgeoning oil sector.
implementation of the LEU project activities and support the project
coordinators in facilitating, monitoring, and supervising the implementation of
project activities, brief the project coordinators, on biweekly basis, about
the progress, constraints, challenges, lessons learned and achievements
encountered during the course of implementing the project activities,
responsible for several MSEs and other social enterprises.
- Implementation of project activities
- Support the project coordinators in
monitoring and supervision the implementation of activities - Provide briefs to the Coordinators about
the progress, constraints, challenges, lessons learned and achievements
encountered during the course of implementing the project activities - In charge of the several MSEs and other
social enterprises assigned to him/her at the discretion of coordinators
and/or the project manager where they will provide: - Training and capacity building of MSEs
- Provision of business advisory services in
business planning, marketing, record keeping, marketing, cashflow
management, raising investment funds( capital funds) for their businesses - Responsible for database management and
research - Fostering, building and growing
partnerships between these business and other stakeholders - Timely report writing and proposal
development - Creating and strengthening existing
linkages will all stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation - Collection of materials that can be used
for documentation purposes and media programme - Perform any other duties assigned to him
from time to time by management.
- The Project Officer should hold a
bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, Commerce, Business Administration,
Economics, Development studies or other relevant field. Additional post
graduate qualifications in the related fields will be an added advantage. - Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Posses skills in report writing, and
documentation - Ability to work in a rural environment and
frequent travel on rough roads. - Excellent interpersonal and communication
(verbal and written) skills - Possess the ability to speak fluently the
local language Runyakitara. - Good working knowledge of computer
programmes including MS Excel, Word
and PowerPoint
