Uganda
Mills are currently implementing a DFID funded programme: AgriTT (Working in
Partnership to Accelerate Agricultural Technology Transfer). One of the three
components of the AgriTT programme is
the implementation of two Pilot Development Projects, one in Malawi and the
other in Uganda. The AgriTT project builds on the Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU), signed between the Department for International
Development (DFID), Ministry of Agriculture (MOA, China) and the Ministry of Agriculture,
Animal Industries and Fisheries (MAAIF, Uganda) in Beijing in November 2012
where the parties agreed to work together on agricultural technology transfer
to promote food security. The Uganda Pilot Development Project for AgriTT
will bring together Chinese, Ugandan and UK partners to support further
development of cassava production, productivity and value addition in
Uganda.
- Ensuring forward planning of all activities to
be undertaken in the Ugandan Pilot Development Project (PDP), including
development of annual and quarterly workplans and budgets - Establishing and operating a suitable mechanism
for oversight of the implementation activities of the Ugandan PDP.
This can take the form of regular planning and reporting meetings intended
to assess progress and address bottlenecks - Approve and authorize all payments required for
the conduct of the PDP activities - Supervision of deployment of PDP funds in
accordance with fund management arrangements agreed with partners - Ensuring that all planned activities are
carried out in a manner that provides for value for money - Work collaboratively with Ministry of
Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) and all partners
to ensuring that all Reports are submitted in a timely manner - Organisation and facilitation of missions,
stakeholder consultation visits, grantee visits in Uganda - Organisation and facilitation support to the
Targeted Research project, under the AgriTT Research Challenge Fund, in
Uganda - Communication and liaison support – i.e. with
public, private sector and institutions - Relationship building and advocacy with
Government and private sector participants. - Liaising on a weekly basis with the AgriTT
Project Management Office (PMO) and provide support with reporting,
communications and supporting the facilitation of PMO missions to
Uganda.
